Quick guide: FBR wealth statement mein opening aur closing net wealth, expenses, loans aur transfers ko reconcile karne ka practical Section 116 guide.

Income return aur wealth statement ka farq

Income return saal ki income aur tax computation batati hai. Wealth statement assets, liabilities aur wealth movement ko explain karti hai. Bank account mein aane wali har amount taxable income nahi, aur return ki taxable income ko closing wealth bana dena bhi theek nahi. Dono statements ek doosre ke figures ko support karni chahiye.

Section 116(2) resident individual taxpayer ki return ke saath wealth statement aur wealth reconciliation require karta hai. Is mein AOP member ka relevant proviso bhi hai. Section 116(1) Commissioner ke notice se individual ki statement mangwane ka separate power rakhta hai. Non-resident status aur notice cases ko resident individual ki default filing rule se mix na karein.

Reconciliation ka practical method

Net wealth assets minus liabilities hai. Opening net wealth ko previous year ke closing figure se trace karein. Phir documented income aur other genuine wealth-changing inflows add karein; personal spending, tax payments aur other relevant outflows deduct karein. Result closing net wealth ke movement se reconcile hona chahiye. Prescribed form mein classification aur non-cash adjustments ko facts ke mutabiq handle karein.

Zero difference tab useful hai jab har entry evidence se explain ho. Sirf balancing ke liye gift, cash in hand ya miscellaneous receipt enter karna reliable reconciliation nahi.

Simple worked example

Opening net wealth PKR 2,000,000 hai. Gross salary PKR 1,800,000, genuine documented gift PKR 200,000, household expenses PKR 900,000 aur tax paid PKR 100,000 assume karein. Koi other adjustment nahi. Closing net wealth = 2,000,000 + 1,800,000 + 200,000 − 900,000 − 100,000 = PKR 3,000,000.

Closing assets PKR 3,500,000 aur genuine outstanding liabilities PKR 500,000 hon to net wealth bhi PKR 3,000,000 hai. Gift ko is example mein reconciliation inflow maana gaya hai; gift ki taxability aur legal evidence independently check honge. Agar income already net-of-tax use ki hai to same tax ko dobara subtract karke mismatch na banayein.

Bank transfers, loans aur asset purchases

Apne ek account se doosre account mein transfer fresh income nahi: dono balances aur transfer trail reconcile karein. Genuine loan cash/bank asset ke saath liability bhi create karta hai. Loan amount ko earned income aur outstanding borrowing dono bana kar double count na karein. Repayment mein principal aur interest ki classification separately samjhein.

Car khareedne par bank balance kam aur vehicle asset increase hota hai. Purchase ko poora household expense treat karke asset bhi show karna wealth ko distort kar sakta hai. Asset disposal mein sale proceeds, removed asset value aur recognised gain/loss ka consistent treatment chahiye. Relevant form instructions ke mutabiq cost/valuation basis use karein; har asset ko arbitrary market price par reset na karein.

Family aur foreign assets

Section 116 foreign assets aur foreign liabilities ko expressly cover karta hai. Spouse ke assets ki inclusion ke liye current explanation dependency condition clarify karti hai. Family ownership documents aur dependence facts dekhein; independent spouse ki property automatically apni ownership mein na daalein. Foreign currency amounts aur remittance evidence ka audit trail maintain karein.

Submit karne se pehle checklist

Prior return, year-end bank statements, property/vehicle documents, investment statements, loan confirmations, salary/withholding certificates aur household-expense summary match karein. Unexplained difference ko evidence se resolve karein; unexplained income/assets ke section 111 implications ho sakte hain. Calculator arithmetic mein help karta hai, genuine source evidence ka substitute nahi.
