Approved pension fund mein contribution retirement planning ka hissa ho sakti hai. Section 63 ka tax credit samajhne ke liye teen cheezen alag rakhna zaroori hain: aap ki eligibility, qualifying contribution aur credit ka formula. Yeh original written guide AM Tax Hub ki Section 63 video ke saath practical calculation worksheet provide karti hai.

Quick answer
  • Section 63 eligible person ko qualifying approved pension-fund contribution par tax credit de sakta hai.
  • Ordinary limit mein credit base actual contribution aur taxable income ke 20% mein se lower amount hota hai.
  • 20% taxable-income limit ka matlab contribution ka flat 20% refund nahi.

Section 63 kis ke liye hai?

Section 63(1) section 2(19A) ke eligible person ko refer karta hai jo Salary ya Income from Business head ke under chargeable income derive karta ho aur Voluntary Pension System Rules, 2005 ke approved pension fund mein qualifying contribution/premium pay kare. Product ke marketing name mein pension ya retirement likha hona tax approval ka substitute nahi.

Fund manager se fund approval, apne individual pension account ki details aur contribution certificate lein. Employee provident fund, insurance policy, ordinary mutual fund aur VPS pension account ko ek hi category na samjhein. Residency, age/status aur eligible-person definition ki applicable conditions bhi verify karein; is guide ka example eligibility assume karta hai.

Tax deduction aur tax credit mein farq

Deductible allowance taxable income compute karne mein relevant hota hai. Section 63 credit tax liability ki calculation mein formula ke zariye relief deta hai. Contribution ko pehle taxable income se minus karke phir isi payment par full section 63 credit claim karna sahi general approach nahi. Return ke relevant credit field aur supporting computation ka use karein.

Section 63 formula: (A ÷ B) × C

VariableMeaning
ATax year ka assessed tax, Part X ke tax credits allow karne se pehle.
BUs tax year ki taxable income.
CQualifying contribution/premium actually paid in the year, ya eligible person's taxable income ka 20% — jo lower ho.

A/B effective rate banata hai. Is liye same contribution par do taxpayers ka credit different ho sakta hai. Actual tax assessed aur taxable income use karein; highest marginal slab rate ko automatically A/B ki jagah na lagayein. Agar taxable income zero hai to is formula ka numerical example apply nahi hota.

Worked example: contribution cap aur credit

Assume eligible taxpayer ki taxable income PKR 2,000,000 hai aur Part X credits se pehle assessed tax PKR 200,000 hai. Yeh assessed-tax figure sirf illustration hai, TY 2027 salary slab calculation nahi. Qualifying paid pension contribution PKR 500,000 hai.

  1. Income-based cap: 2,000,000 × 20% = PKR 400,000.
  2. C: actual 500,000 aur cap 400,000 mein se PKR 400,000.
  3. A/B: 200,000 ÷ 2,000,000 = 10%.
  4. Illustrative credit: 10% × 400,000 = PKR 40,000.

Agar isi example mein contribution PKR 100,000 ho, to C PKR 100,000 aur credit PKR 10,000 hoga. PKR 500,000 invest karne ka matlab PKR 500,000 tax refund nahi. Withholding, other credits aur refund procedure ko separately reconcile karna hota hai.

Older age-based concessions ko current rule na samjhein

Consolidated law mein historical age-based additional contribution provisos bhi nazar aate hain. Un ke andar specific joining periods aur end dates, including 30 June 2019, likhi hain. Sirf age 40 se above hone par TY 2027 mein automatic 30% ya 50% limit advertise karna munasib nahi. Applicable year aur exact proviso ke baghair extended cap claim na karein.

Existing pension balance transfer ka treatment

Section 63(3) approved employment pension/annuity ya occupational saving scheme ka existing balance individual pension account mein transfer karne ko is section ke credit ke liye qualify nahi karta. Nayi cash contribution aur old balance transfer ko contribution certificate mein alag identify karwayein. Bank transfer ki total amount ko bina breakdown qualifying contribution maan lena credit overstate kar sakta hai.

Claim se pehle documents checklist

  • Fund approval aur individual pension account confirmation.
  • Contribution certificate: taxpayer identity, payment dates aur qualifying amount.
  • Bank payment proof aur transfer-versus-new-contribution breakdown.
  • Applicable tax year ki salary/business income computation.
  • A, B aur C ka working paper aur return acknowledgement.

Year-end se pehle payment ki actual date confirm karein. July ki contribution ko pichlay normal tax year ke June closing mein include na karein. Section 74 ke normal-year convention ke mutabiq TY 2027, 1 July 2026 se 30 June 2027 tak hai; approved special tax years ka treatment alag ho sakta hai.
